Equity and Inclusion

The Berkeley County Board of Education prioritizes quality, access, and equity in education for student success. Guidelines and objectives in BCS Policy promote equity and inclusion across practices, academics, and resources.

BCS advocates for and supports inclusive, safe, and academically challenging learning environments as the basis for the development of students and staff. This ensures that all students and staff have equitable access to resources, programs, and assistance that facilitate growth toward students’ post-secondary success.

At the district and school levels, educational processes are in place to guarantee that all students achieve success and are prepared for college and career paths. Students are provided with the necessary support to reach this objective. Equity involves implementing practices tailored to students' needs to yield positive outcomes. Equity and inclusion are guiding principles that promote accessibility, a sense of belonging, and foster safe learning environments where individuals are respected, valued, and flourish.
